The latest data shows that as of August, China's exports of auto parts have surged.
Auto parts export sales surge
According to data from the General Administration of Customs, from January to August this year, the total export value of China's auto parts products was 316.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 34.6% . Compared with 31.22 billion yuan in 2019, sales volume soared by 900%.
According to a manufacturer, these products are mainly exported to more than 30 countries including North America, the European Union and Asia . Since the second half of last year, export orders have started to grow rapidly. Currently, more than 40 production lines are running at full capacity, and orders have been scheduled for three months later.
Due to the shortage of chips, automobile production and sales are declining, and the demand for parts providing supporting services is also decreasing, but the after-sales maintenance market remains hot.
Online sales of auto parts increased
In addition to the overall export growth, the proportion of e-commerce sales of foreign auto parts products is also increasing due to consumer preferences and the epidemic.
DIY is very popular in Europe and the United States. Whether it is home furnishing or garden crafts, it is more fulfilling to decorate by yourself than to buy ready-made ones. Driven by the rise of the DIY repair and modification of cars, auto parts and small parts are now beginning to occupy more e-commerce markets. Data from eBay some time ago showed that auto parts products have become a hot-selling category on the platform, with an average of one sold every ten seconds.
Under the epidemic, consumption power has declined, the demand for new cars has decreased, and people are more likely to choose repairs to extend the life of their cars. At the same time, consumers also have more time to repair their cars. For relatively simple faults, many people will choose to buy auto parts and repair them themselves.
A survey by industry research firm Hedges also showed that the market size of the North American online auto parts industry in 2021 will be approximately US$26 billion , an increase of at least 30% from 2020 .
When choosing auto parts, consumers pay more attention to size, matching and durability.
