Shipment attention! The typhoon is coming again

Super typhoon is coming

Congestion, epidemics, and typhoons are all force majeure factors that logistics has faced recently. The typhoon that happened some time ago hasn’t been over for long, and a new round has come.

In addition to summer typhoons, autumn typhoons are also not to be underestimated. They usually occur from September to November. Compared with summer typhoons, autumn typhoons have the characteristics of traveling southward, being more powerful, and causing more serious damage. According to the China Meteorological Administration, this year's 13th typhoon "Conson" and 14th typhoon "Chantu" will both have an impact on China.

According to the latest news, the strong tropical storm-level typhoon "Conson" entered the eastern waters of the South China Sea early this morning and arrived at the sea surface of Hainan Province at five in the morning. It will move westward at a speed of about 15 kilometers per hour, and its intensity will continue to increase. It is expected to approach the coast of western Guangdong to southern Hainan Island on the 11th.

Another typhoon, "Chandhu", arrived on the sea surface of Taiwan Province of China today. It will move northwestward at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour, then turn to the northwest and approach Guangdong and Fujian .

The typhoon is coming with great force, and coupled with the complexity of possible changes, shipments from Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang and other places must be prepared for defense.

Typhoons may exacerbate supply chain tensions

According to the data released by Yantian Port, since the resumption of operations, Yantian Port has welcomed nearly 280 large ships in August, about 2.6 times the number of calls in June. The congestion in US ports has not been alleviated yet, and some industry insiders believe that US ports will be congested until the end of 2022. Faced with the difficulty in obtaining containers, some large shippers have no choice but to charter ships to solve the urgent problem.

In addition, freight rates have risen for 17 consecutive weeks. Data shows that freight rates to the West Coast of the United States hit a new high of US$19,040 this week, exceeding the record of US$18,555 set in early August.

The epidemic, congestion, freight rate increases, and various obstacles in logistics have made sellers miserable. Now they are facing the threat of typhoons. It is really not easy to ship goods. Sellers should also pay attention to the latest news about typhoons and be prepared to stock up in advance.
