At 00:00 on June 1, Tmall 618 ushered in its first wave of success. Tmall International’s sales in the first 8 hours exceeded last year’s full-day sales, and half-day sales soared 61% year-on-year.
In the past year, outbound travel has been halted, import consumption has accelerated online, and overseas brands have accelerated their entry into China to meet the new demands of the Chinese people.
In order to seize Tmall's 6.18 , the largest consumption season in the first half of the year, this year a total of more than 29,000 overseas brands from 87 countries and regions around the world came to "catch the market", including nearly 2,000 new overseas brands and nearly 400,000 imported new products participating in 6.18 for the first time .
Consumers can shop around the world on Tmall Global without leaving the country. Luxury goods from second-hand stores in Japan, popular overseas versions of home game consoles, and new niche perfumes that are not to be missed are all very popular. Within three minutes of the sale on June 1, consumers bought over 100 million yuan worth of imported goods.

In order to participate in Tmall 6.18 for the first time , Japanese online second-hand luxury store RECLO entered Tmall Global a few months earlier this year, stocking more than 10,000 second-hand bags and accessories. A rare Hermès Kelly backpack was sold out in one minute after it went on sale, and sales exceeded one million in 10 hours.
Last year, niche perfumes that don’t overlap with others became popular on Tmall Global . Sales increased by double digits in the first 10 hours of June 18. Many new brands that entered the market before June 18 performed well. British royal fragrance CREED, which entered the market in April this year , participated in June 18 for the first time and achieved sales of over 200,000 in the first 10 hours of sales. Classic Silver Spring and Eau de Napoleon were hot sellers.
The first day of the 618 sale coincided with Children's Day, and adults who celebrated the holiday bought game consoles for themselves. The imported Sony PS5, Japanese Nintendo Switch and other home game consoles ushered in a sales peak , with sales in the first hour increasing by more than 10 times year-on-year , and game controllers increasing by 230% year-on-year.
In addition, categories such as imported foreign wine, home fragrance, baby skin care, and pet health products also saw significant growth. Data from Tmall International’s first half-day sale showed that sales of imported foreign wine and pet health products increased by more than 20 times year-on-year; imported home fragrance increased by 135% year-on-year, and baby skin care increased by more than 90% year-on-year.

Although it is still difficult to leave the country, consumers can buy imported goods from Tmall Global without leaving their homes. 90% of the imported goods on the must-buy list for outbound travel are on Tmall Global. Data shows that sales of goods in popular outbound travel destinations such as Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia have skyrocketed.
To ensure that overseas brands have sufficient stock for Tmall 618 , Tmall Global also cooperated with Cainiao Supply Chain to provide global brands with one-stop solutions including overseas pickup, customs, warehousing and domestic distribution.
