Accelerating the electronicization, Japanese game store Super Potato is listed on eBay

Foreign media reported that with the development of the times, Super Potato, a Japanese game store that has become a pilgrimage site for players, has finally gone online and entered eBay.

TheVerge editor Cameron Faulkner cited Twitter statistics saying that Super Potate has a total of 8 flagship stores in Japan. It is called a magical space where a store and a museum meet, and for sellers, it is a good place for them to find some rare but relatively reasonably priced games or consoles.

Cameron Faulkner pointed out that for friends who want to collect Virtual Boy or Sega Dreamcast game consoles that have never been released outside of Japan, Super Potato is definitely a place not to be missed.

There aren't many places you can walk into and pick up a Virtual Boy headset or find a cache of Sega Dreamcast games that were never released outside of Japan. And thankfully, traveling to Japan in person isn't the only way to peek at the store's massive collection of retro Japanese video games anymore.

According to IGN, the popular store has brought at least some of its merchandise to eBay, allowing game enthusiasts to shop without having to leave their country or even their home, with shipping costs from Japan to the U.S. mostly around $20.

Many of the games listed in the store are for the Famicom and Super Famicom released in Japan , so are mainly in Japanese, and it's important to note that if you have an NES, then this affordable adapter will play imported Famicom games on it, while for the SNES it will make Super Famicom games fit into it by breaking out two tabs in its cartridge.

To cater to the preferences of local players, Super Potato's shelves are also filled with many collections of FC/Super Famicom platforms. There is even a limited edition Metal Gear PS1 console set with signatures of Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa. Judging from the catalog listed online, this game store also offers affordable FC versions of Final Fantasy I + II, Super Famicom versions of Super Metroid, and the first Japanese Game Boy and Nintendo 64 consoles.

Given that tourism has dropped sharply around the world during the pandemic, this is a wise decision for Super Potato, as it allows them to provide gamers with the products they want directly without having to rely on the increasingly dwindling tourism industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.
