According to Conversion, visits to Brazilian e-commerce sites grew by 1.66 billion in March, a 40% increase from the same period last year.
Conversion conducted a study on Brazilian e-commerce, analyzing traffic to the 200 largest websites in Brazil (more than 1 million visits), and pointed out that in the past 12 months, Brazilian e-commerce websites received 20.61 billion visits.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, people's outdoor activities have decreased , and the behavior of online consumers has changed dramatically. Conversion 's Brazil E-commerce Report analyzed a total of 15 industries, 10 of which grew by more than 30% year-on-year, with a focus on the import industry (up 91.72%). In March 2021, Asian import goods e-commerce Shopee achieved the highest growth rate among the largest players in the category, reaching 1954% compared to 2020 .
The report shows that in the past twelve months , the fastest growing sectors in Brazil are : Pets ( up 88.04%) , Home and Furniture ( up 86.62%) , Pharmacy and Health ( up 65.22%) , Fashion and Accessories ( up 63.18%) and Food and Beverage ( up 57.25%). In the monthly comparison, all sectors showed growth except for Tourism, which fell by 18% compared to February and 8.79% compared to the same period last year.
The report also compared data from February 2020, before the pandemic , with March 2021 and found that among the categories with the fastest growth during this period, the pharmaceutical and health industry ranked first at 120.67%, followed by pets ( up 102.25%) and food and beverages ( up 95.55%).
Diego Ivo, founder of Conversion , said: “With social distancing and the temporary closure of physical stores, consumers have another option in e-commerce to continue purchasing essentials and daily necessities without having to leave the house. Additionally, it is a huge opportunity for sellers, who have seen a significant increase in website traffic . ”
