With a sales share of up to 70%, shoes have become the hot-selling category on the eMAG platform

eMAG is the largest fashion e-commerce platform in Romania, with business in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Italy , etc. The platform has more than 35,000 products and is still growing rapidly.

During the epidemic, eMAG performed very well, with sales of various products soaring. It is reported that e-commerce sales of shoes accounted for 70% of total sales , becoming a hot-selling category on the eMAG platform.

eMAG data shows that since the autumn and winter of 2020, the sales of seasonal products on the platform have increased significantly, among which shoes and jackets, T-shirts, jeans and other categories have the highest sales, and the platform-related sellers have experienced explosive orders. In addition, the return rate of footwear and clothing products on the eMAG platform is also much lower than the average level of online stores.

It is reported that among all fashion categories, footwear has the highest sales, accounting for almost 70% of the total sales of the platform , and has become the hot-selling category of the platform. The reasons for this phenomenon are, on the one hand, the change of seasons, and residents need to buy warm shoes; on the other hand, in the post-epidemic era, people are eager to go out of their homes to exercise, walk, and play outdoors.

Among other categories, the sales of men's clothing on the platform are much higher than those of women's and children's clothing. It is reported that the sales share of men's clothing reached 62%, the sales share of women's clothing was 23%, and the sales share of children's clothing was 3%. The remaining 12% came from the sales of sportswear.

It is reported that in addition to these fashion categories, the products most purchased by consumers on the eMAG platform also include some consumer goods, including some packaged foods, detergents and personal care products.

eMAG said that the surge in sales of many categories on the platform usually occurs during promotional activities. When the platform holds promotional activities, it will attract a large number of consumers, and the sales of fashion products can increase by at least half.

2020 is a year of rapid development for e-commerce, and also a year of great breakthrough for Romanian e-commerce eMAG. It is reported that the eMAG platform currently has 22,000 sellers and more than 500,000 daily visits . In the new year, the eMAG platform is accumulating strength.

At present, more and more local European e-commerce companies are emerging, and sellers in related markets can pay more attention to them.
