As we all know, Germans are keen on sports . According to statistics, sales of sportswear, footwear and sports equipment in Germany increased by 12.1% from 2011 to 2019. Among them, per capita sports expenditure was the highest in 2019 , at 90.16 euros. Before the epidemic , Germany's sports market had maintained a rapid growth momentum .
According to the newly released "Branchen-REPORT Sport 2021" research report , this rapid growth momentum was hit in the 2020 epidemic year. The epidemic lockdown measures restricted team sports and many indoor sports venues had to be closed. The overall sports goods sales fell by about 4.5% .
However, sales of personal outdoor sports have increased . During the epidemic, the number of people who choose to run has increased significantly, and the sales of running shoes have increased by 2.3% compared with 2019. Many people in the industry are full of expectations for running , fitness , cycling and trendy sports . For example, Adidas has entered the field of e-sports , and winter sports expert Schöffel has entered the field of cycling , targeting people over 40 years old .
The analysis shows that for the entire sporting goods market , covering sub-markets such as winter sports, swimming, beach, outdoor, fitness, football, running and others , as well as golf, racquet sports and fishing, these sub-markets only accounted for 25% of the total sports market sales in 2020.
Market researchers at Marketmedia24 speculate that in the best case scenario, sales of sporting goods will exceed 2019 levels only in 2022 , and even in the worst case scenario , sales in 2028 will increase by one-third compared to 2019.
However, given the instability of the epidemic , conventional forecasting models no longer work, and it has become more difficult to predict the specific development of the sports market . However , the study still provides forecast analysis results until 2028 based on the trend of economic growth .
Ideally, the sporting goods market will see a significant increase in recent years . If the market stagnation lasts longer, the recovery will be slow . It is expected that sporting goods sales will rise to nearly 7.5 billion euros by 2028 . Germany Sporting Goods |
