Electronic products become a hot item in Korea during the back-to-school season! Online shopping has become mainstream

In March, Korean students usher in a new school year. According to a survey, one out of every three consumers preparing gifts for the new semester is choosing electronic products.

From February 18 to 22, Auction, an online shopping website operated by eBay Korea , conducted a questionnaire survey on new semester gifts among 1,626 consumers.

On the 25th , Auction released the results of a survey, which showed that 30% of the people chose laptops and tablets as gifts for the new semester . The most popular ones are those with ultra-thin appearance, beautiful design and convertible design .

This was followed by shoes and bags (26%), clothing (13%), books (10%) and electronic coupons (7%).

It is reported that the most popular gifts last year were shoes and bags (32%). Due to the impact of the new coronavirus , online teaching has become a daily routine, so more and more people have begun to use electronic devices this year , and the utilization rate of electronic products has increased .

Secondly, stationery items will also become hot-sellers. Pens, backpacks, pencil sharpeners, and notebooks are popular among students. The sales of various balls, skipping ropes, and bicycles are also increasing rapidly. Parents say that they buy school supplies for their children so that they can have a sense of ritual.

The average amount spent on gifts for the new semester this year has reached 391,635 won, an increase of 7% from last year.

In addition, the number of respondents who said they would spend 1 million won increased from 16% last year to 19% this year. Auction explained that the popularity of high-priced electronic products has soared, and consumption has also increased accordingly .

Due to the epidemic, offline consumption has decreased, and online shopping malls (accounting for 89%) have become the main channel for purchasing gifts.

92% of respondents said they have planned to buy new semester gifts for family , friends or themselves this year , which is 12% higher than the answer of buying new semester gifts last year (80%).

A person in charge of Auction said: "Last year, because the new semester happened just after the outbreak of the epidemic , people were full of anxiety all the time and could not prepare gifts . But this year, more consumers have adapted to the epidemic situation , so the number of consumers has increased. "
