It is reported that on February 25 , Amazon will launch a new feature "Key for Business" in Japan , launching a new "delivery" service for apartments and providing automatic locking function for apartments.
"Key for Business" translates to business key , which allows Amazon deliverymen to use dedicated terminals to open the automatic locks of collective residences such as apartments and place packages at the entrance.
According to Amazon, the system can be " retrofitted " onto existing automatic locks .
It is understood that after collaborating with Daito Trust Construction and Sohgo Security Services (ALSOK) , it plans to introduce the service to 200 apartments when it launches , and then begin expanding nationwide .
"Key for Business" can be set up in existing automatic locking equipment wireless terminal (such as a small modem) to introduce business keys.
However, what is worrying is that although they are Amazon deliverymen, they can enter and leave the apartment freely. Is this really okay ?
According to an Amazon representative, "Key for Business" allows delivery drivers to temporarily "auto-lock and unlock" only when delivering a package to the apartment . Once the delivery is complete, it will be linked to Amazon's delivery status system, and the "auto-unlock" will expire, preventing entry into the building.
As its partners are Daito Trust Construction and ALSOK, Amazon initially developed it as a service for renting apartments. However, Amazon officials said that they will consider introducing this technology in areas such as commercial housing in the future.
"Key for Business" is envisioned as a collective entrance with an automatic lock, but it cannot be used in the case of an elevator that requires a dedicated card key. In addition, it cannot be used for home delivery services by logistics partners such as Kuroneko Yamato , and can only be used when it is displayed as "Shipping Company: Amazon".
In addition, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. announced on February 24 that it will begin a practical experiment with "EAZY" to experiment with the placement of automated locks in apartments.
Although the cooperation with Amazon is still unknown, the initiatives to reduce redistribution and improve logistics efficiency are being promoted in the apartment sector, which can be said to be a new development trend in 2021 . Japan Amazon Parcel delivery |
