Cainiao and AliExpress jointly increase cross-border stocking volume by 600% for Spring Festival

When cross-border e-commerce meets the Chinese Spring Festival, how to seize the first wave of cross-border business opportunities in 2024?

 

At the beginning of the year, AliExpress launched semi-hosted services to upgrade the logistics services for self-operated sellers on the platform. This Spring Festival, semi-hosted logistics services will face their first "small test". In order to help merchants "win without effort" during the Spring Festival and steadily receive overseas orders, Cainiao announced that it will jointly launch multiple warehouse entry guarantees with AliExpress to start the Spring Festival cross-border logistics defense war.

 

AliExpress fully managed and semi-managed merchants can prepare goods in advance at Cainiao's preferred warehouses, and orders will be automatically issued through the platform without any operation by the merchants, so that they can enjoy a worry-free Chinese New Year. In addition, Cainiao will also provide "air refueling" - warehouse collection and delivery in parallel, JIT (Just in Time) to achieve free door-to-door collection within 24 hours of order placement, with a minimum of one piece, covering 22 cities in East China and South China.

 

 

The reporter learned from Cainiao that during the Spring Festival this year , the inventory of Cainiao and AliExpress's preferred warehouses increased by 600% year-on-year, mainly from full and semi-managed warehouses. To this end, Cainiao will expand the capacity of preferred warehouses serving the managed category to 9. The goods are delivered in multiple waves, delivered in the early morning and arrive at the warehouse in the morning, greatly strengthening the bite of each link, and more than 90% of the warehouse orders can be shipped out on the same day.

 

This February, with the Spring Festival, Valentine's Day and the "American Spring Festival Gala", the festive promotions are basically full, which will trigger a new round of shopping frenzy. Many cross-border people predict that cross-border e-commerce will have a "good start" in the Year of the Dragon. AliExpress semi-hosting is also fully launched to provide sufficient guarantee for promotional orders. It is understood that the core of the semi-hosting service is to help sellers manage the "logistics fulfillment" link to improve the timeliness and certainty of fulfillment, while retaining the unique goods and operational advantages of self-operated merchants. It is more suitable for merchants with product R&D capabilities, brand operation needs, or operating non-standard categories (such as clothing, auto parts, etc.).

 

A tool accessories merchant on AliExpress said that after joining the semi-hosting service, traffic and transactions increased significantly, especially in January, when the number of orders was 2 to 3 times the original. Merchants are promoting more goods to enter the semi-hosting service, actively preparing stocks, and increasing warehousing efforts.

 

As cross-border merchants are preparing for the Spring Festival, AliExpress has also previously issued an announcement stating that all fully-managed and semi-managed goods that enter the warehouse during the Spring Festival preparation period can enjoy the homepage special area traffic. What's more important is that 60% of the loan can be released on the next day after entering the warehouse, and warehouse rental fees and warehouse delivery operation fees are all waived.

 

It is understood that as the world's largest cross-border e-commerce logistics company, Cainiao's global smart logistics network covers more than 200 countries and regions. In fiscal year 2023, Cainiao handled more than 1.5 billion cross-border parcels, serving 133 million cross-border consumers and more than 100,000 merchants and brands.
