Another Amazon warehouse is going on strike!

According to foreign media reports, following the Coventry warehouse in the UK, another Amazon warehouse in the UK decided to take strike action over pay issues.

The GMB union said more than 100 members of the company voted, with 86% voting in favour of a strike.

Amazon employs about 1,000 workers at the Rugeley center, according to the union, and the exact timing of the strike is still under discussion.

GMB senior organiser Stuart Richards said workers at Amazon Rugeley had sent out a clear message that they were demanding fair pay and union rights .

At the same time, Amazon recently confirmed that it will close the warehouse center and provide jobs for employees in its new warehouse in Sutton Coldfield , which cost 500 million pounds to build and is scheduled to be put into use in October.

Prior to Rugeley , staff at the Coventry warehouse had already taken strike action and expressed support for striking for another six months.

The disagreement between the Coventry warehouse workers and Amazon is that the union demanded an increase in employees' wages from £10.50 per hour to £15, while Amazon only agreed to an increase of 50 pence per hour (to £11).

As a result, Coventry workers went on strike for the first time in January this year, which was also the first strike by Amazon employees in the UK.

The most recent strike was during the last PD, and they have been on strike for 19 days now, and on the 19th day announced that they would go on strike for another 6 months, while stating that their membership had exceeded the number required for union recognition.

In a statement to the media, Amazon said it regularly reviews the company's compensation system to ensure that the company provides competitive wages and benefits; in less than a year, the company's minimum wage has increased by 10% and 37% since 2018.

Amazon also stressed that depending on the region, the minimum starting salary for employees is between £11 and £12 per hour, which is higher than the national minimum living wage and the actual living wage standards.
