Amazon's latest research shows that e-commerce has reduced Italy's inflation by 5% in 6 years!

Inflation is now at the top of the political and economic agenda and is also an important issue for many Italian families. Therefore, Casa Europa - Ambrosetti has collaborated with Amazon to conduct a study to analyze the impact of e-commerce on Italian purchasing power and Italian companies, explaining to the public the important role of e-commerce in the Italian social economy.

About 90% of Italians surveyed said that their purchasing power has decreased in the past year . However, e-commerce has played a positive role in this situation. According to the respondents, e-commerce enables them to obtain more and cheaper varieties of goods faster and more conveniently .

The study shows that in Italy, even during the peak of inflation, online prices have remained relatively stable and have generated sales of around 40 billion euros in the past three years. In addition, the study shows that when prices rise by one percentage point, e-commerce can effectively reduce inflationary pressure by 0.02 percentage points, while causing an increase in consumption (+845 million euros).

Overall, without the widespread use of e-commerce, Italian inflation would have been 5% higher on average over the past six years, and e-commerce has helped Italian households save about 1 billion euros between 2020 and 2022.

The results of the study further confirm the positive role of e-commerce in Italy's socio-economic development and the work that Amazon has done in it. The company has promoted the growth of businesses and the overall economy by offering low prices, a wide selection of products and fast delivery services, while also providing buyers with an excellent purchasing experience.

In addition, Amazon has also brought more international exposure and promotion to Italian businesses by launching various events such as Italian Day and Prime Day. These events have enabled Amazon users around the world to buy Italian-made products, driving Italian export sales to grow by more than 50%.

In addition, Amazon said it will continue to invest to ensure that it becomes a trusted shopping platform for customers. It is reported that in 2022 alone, Amazon invested more than 1.2 billion US dollars worldwide and had 15,000 employees working hard to protect customers, business partners and online merchants.
