The magic roller skate has become popular on TikTok, and it was designed by a Chinese!

In this video, a person is wearing these roller skates and walking on city roads and in an office. The person's walking posture is no different from normal walking, but the speed is much faster.

It is understood that this shoe is called "Moon Walker". According to the inventor of this shoe, Mr. Zhang, wearing it can make ordinary people walk about 250% faster.

"The average person walks at about 3 miles per hour, but wearing these shoes can reach a walking speed of up to 7 miles per hour."

Mr Zhang's LinkedIn profile shows that he has an academic background in mechanical engineering, a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and has worked at Rolls-Royce for more than three years.

In order to design the "Moon Walker", Mr. Zhang carefully built a core R&D team, which took a full five years to develop successfully. The team has uploaded the product to the crowdfunding website Kickstarter and raised nearly $330,000.

According to Mr. Zhang, the "Moon Walker" has received more than 2,000 pre-orders. A pair of shoes costs US$1,399 and is only available in the United States.

"Its biggest feature is safety. If you are not walking, its wheels will not move. In addition, the shoes are fixed with magnetic buckles, so you can unbuckle them at any time if danger occurs."

However, not everyone is optimistic about this product.

One comment under the video sarcastically said: "Only $1,400, it's really 'cheap'." Another said: "The roads in my city are so broken that I can't use these shoes at all."

In fact, as early as 2015, a similar product was launched on an American entrepreneurial reality show. It was called "rocket skates" at the time, but now the product has long disappeared.

But Zhang said the basic design concepts between the two products were "completely different", and the Moonwalker was also user-friendly for those without roller skating experience.

In the future, whether the Moon Walker will become the next hit or disappear like its predecessor remains to be seen.
