The recall involves ToolGuards portable immersion heaters with built-in thermostats . The model number is TG_IMH_0 1 and the batch number is PO100301. The model and batch number are printed on a silver label on the black plastic base of the device. This portable immersion heater is used to heat water in foot baths, swimming pools, bathtubs, etc.

The product is reportedly manufactured in China. About 5,000 units were sold exclusively on Amazon between December 2021 and February 2022. So far, the company that sells the product has received 19 reports of the recalled immersion heaters overheating, melting or catching fire, including two serious scares for consumers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said consumers who purchased the product should immediately stop using the recalled portable immersion heater and contact FXswede AB for a full refund. Consumers should cut off the power cord of the product and submit the Amazon order number and photo proof of destruction of the product to the recalling company to receive a refund. The company is also directly contacting all known purchasers.
