Malaysian sellers grew 130%! Amazon provides more help to merchants

In recent years, the e-commerce industry has been growing rapidly, and more and more sellers have chosen to "establish a presence" in Southeast Asia . According to Amazon's global sales data, the number of Malaysian sellers who cooperated with Amazon to conduct cross-border e-commerce business increased by more than 130% year-on-year last year !

Sellers in Malaysia have also achieved impressive sales results. According to the latest research by research firm AlphaBeta , cross-border e-commerce sales of Malaysian sellers reached 16.76 billion ringgit, or about US$4 billion, in 2021. AlphaBeta predicts that if small and medium-sized enterprises continue to accelerate the pace of using e-commerce exports, this figure is expected to reach 38.6 billion ringgit, or about US$9.2 billion, by 2026.

Recently, Amazon Global Store said that Amazon will continue to provide Malaysian businesses with the necessary technology, skills and tools to help sellers seize the booming cross-border e-commerce opportunities. These include the "Search Analysis Dashboard" to help sellers better understand customer interests and shopping choices; and the "Global Listing" page, which allows sellers to list their products in multiple international stores with a few simple operations.

Amazon Global Selling also said that it will provide additional account management support for Malaysian sellers who sell goods to the United States and Europe worldwide, and expand seller education tools and resources to help sellers successfully get online help. Amazon Global Selling also revealed that it is developing a strong network of service providers to further help sellers in areas such as logistics and storage, account management and advertising optimization, making it easier and more convenient to sell.

Today, there are about 2 million Amazon third-party sellers worldwide , and products from these sellers account for more than half of all goods sold in Amazon stores. Among them, sellers in categories such as health and personal care, beauty and office products have achieved outstanding sales results.

Based on past experience, if sellers want to enter the Southeast Asian market, they can focus on the following categories:

Beauty and Personal Care Products

Beauty and personal care products will be a key development area in Southeast Asia. During the epidemic, people wear masks for a long time, so foundation products with strong lasting power and eye makeup will be more popular with consumers.

Maternity and baby products

Influenced by more and more young parents, baby products now pay more attention to the user experience. Among them, baby clothes with festival elements usually sell better before and after festivals.

Toy

Toys have always been one of the most popular categories among consumers. The sales and demand of plush toys and remote control toys are increasing. In addition, funny and ugly toys have also received a lot of attention in recent years. However, when selling toys, sellers should pay attention to copyright issues to avoid infringement.

Some experts predict that by 2025, Southeast Asia's e-commerce industry is likely to surpass the UK and become the world's third largest. Therefore, sellers can seize this opportunity and plan ahead to gain more opportunities for explosive sales.
