Walmart is the most trusted grocer in the U.S.

Recently, research and consulting firm BrandSpark and Newsweek magazine released a list of the most trusted grocers in the United States based on a survey of 3,200 consumers .

Walmart , one of the largest retailers in the U.S. , topped the list, ranking first in 15 categories . The chain ranked first in overall trust among national retailers and was ahead of other grocers in the Midwest, South and West regions, with ShopRite leading the Northeast .

Meanwhile, Walmart beat out competitors in multiple categories including food and beverage, beauty, fresh meat , fresh produce and supermarket brands, and received the highest trust in in-store health and safety measures, cleanliness, deals /savings and service .

In addition to the retail giants, respondents also rated other retail stores . Kroger Co., Aldi, Publix and Costco ranked among the top five most trusted grocers in the United States , while Whole Foods Market ranked first among natural food grocers and Aldi was named the most trusted discount grocer and small grocer.

Regional chains also made their way into the public eye and participated in the survey. HEB ranked first in checkout experience and in-store experience, and ranked in the top three in several other trust criteria . Hannaford and Hy-Vee ranked in the top five in attributes such as store experience, freshness of prepared meals, and freshness of meat and produce .

Other retailers that participated in the survey included some niche retailers, such as Giant Eagle, Meijer, Sprouts Farmers Market , Weis Markets and Wegmans .

Regarding this selection, Philip Scrutton, Vice President of BrandSpark, commented that during the epidemic and the busy holiday shopping festival , consumers want their shopping experience to be simple, convenient and efficient. This largely means that consumers can easily buy the high-quality goods they expect at a good price .

He also mentioned that people believe that good retailers will achieve this goal again and again across all channels, while the best retailers will provide consumers with special services or unexpected value.
