Russia's New Year gift preferences revealed

As the New Year approaches, local research agency Avito conducted a survey on Russians' shopping intentions, such as gift preferences and budget.

 

The survey results show that when it comes to gift giving, the majority of survey participants (57%) prefer to choose their own New Year gifts and create surprises, about 23% of respondents would directly ask friends and relatives for a list of gifts they would like to receive in the New Year, and 19% of respondents said they were able to prepare based on their friends' preferences.

 

In terms of the way to buy gifts, most respondents (36%) have no preference when buying gifts and plan to buy through a combination of online and offline methods, of which 33% will choose traditional offline stores or shopping malls. In terms of budget, most respondents ( 51%) said they would not spend more than 5,000 rubles, 23% hope to buy gifts between 5,000 and 10,000 rubles, and 15% of the survey participants are prepared to spend more than 10,000 rubles.

 

Gender also differs in gift preferences, with women most wanting to receive gift certificates (36%), clothes or shoes (26%), and accessories (26%), followed by travel (24%), candy (24%), gadgets (23%), lingerie (21%), books (16%), and art kits (15%).

 

For men, the most desired gifts are various tool products (33%), alcoholic beverages (19%), clothes or shoes (18%), accessories (18%), game consoles (17%), sporting goods (16%) and travel (14%).

 

In addition, children aged 4-12 are an important group of gift recipients. When choosing gifts for them, 45% and 30% of respondents will prepare educational games and plush toys for children under 3 years old. For children aged 4 to 7, educational games are also the most popular (36%), followed by creativity sets (26%) and building sets (24%).

 

For children aged 8 to 12, they tend to prefer creative kits (24%), headphones (18%) and educational games (18%). For teenagers aged 13 to adulthood, headphones (26%), smartphones (21%) and USB speakers (15%) are more popular.

 

Other items such as cars, painting supplies, tablets, books and sports equipment are also very popular.
