OnBuy leads the UK e-commerce market, founder dissatisfied with Amazon's charging system

OnBuy is an online retail platform founded in November 2016 and headquartered in Poole, Dorset , UK . The e-commerce platform celebrated its fifth anniversary this week .

It is reported that OnBuy platform covers multiple categories including automobiles, clothing, health and beauty , technology and toys . The platform's annual revenue growth rate has reached a gratifying 224% . It is currently the most trusted e-commerce platform in the UK and has an enviable 4.7-star rating on Trustpilot ( Danish e-commerce review service website ) .

Over the past year , the number of sellers on OnBuy has increased by 80%, and there are currently more than 10,000 sellers selling through the platform - from household names such as Lego and Fitbit to Wolverhampton pet shop HugglePets , which began selling on the platform during the lockdown .

The platform’s growth is also reflected in the number of products on the platform. The number of active product listings on OnBuy has increased by 71% compared to the past , and there are now more than 36 million products available for purchase on the platform .

In addition , the average order value of users has also risen to £49.27. Coupled with the fact that the number of new customers on the website has reached nearly 2 million this year, both the number of users of the platform and the amount of goods purchased by users on the platform have increased.

Given the government's multiple epidemic blockades , British online retailers have experienced explosive growth in the past 18 months . However , after the epidemic improved, as consumers returned to offline stores, OnBuy continued to strengthen while sales of other e-commerce websites declined .

As the holiday shopping season approaches, OnBuy is working closely with its trusted partners to develop forward-looking plans to ensure that this growth momentum continues.

According to OnBuy head Mark   Lister said that this year OnBuy has indeed developed retailers and brands to a whole new level , and quality and trust remain at the core of the platform's business .

Mark mentioned that this growth of OnBuy can be attributed to its commitment to providing a fairer ecosystem for every merchant who chooses the platform , as unlike some other marketplaces, OnBuy does not sell its own products and does not participate in seller competition.

According to the editor, OnBuy claims to be a "direct alternative to Amazon". Its founder established the e-commerce platform OnBuy.com out of dissatisfaction with Amazon's charging system . 82.3% of the platform 's traffic comes from the UK , and it is also very popular in the Netherlands , which contributes 13.8% of its traffic.
