Facebook launches 'Group Store' to test live shopping feature

After Facebook changed its name to Meta, it announced that it would further advance into social commerce and launched the " Shops in Groups " and " Product Recommendations " features.

In a recent announcement, Facebook said: “We’re rolling out new tools to improve the shopping experience on our apps. Through product recommendations and group shops , we’re bridging community and commerce.

Relevant officials said that there are tens of millions of active groups on Facebook, and more than 1.8 billion people use groups every month. Now, Facebook group administrators and moderators can open e-commerce stores in their groups. The company said that in most cases, Facebook only charges a small payment processing fee and tax for transactions completed through group stores.

Facebook found that people often ask group members for their experience with a product and their purchase recommendations. Now, through the product recommendation feature in the group, when someone asks about a product in the group, Facebook will show the user the products recommended by other group members, and can make it easier for users to buy products in the Facebook store.

When shopping, consumers are dazzled by the numerous product lists and sometimes face advertising harassment. Facebook will push products recommended by group members in the user's news feed . Therefore, consumers do not need to spend a lot of time browsing and selecting products, but only need to wait for interesting things to appear in the news feed.

Facebook said this means that traditional shopping is gone. "Now , we look to friends, family, creators and groups we trust for inspiration. "

In addition, Facebook has a series of features that are being tested or upgraded. For example, the "Live Shopping" feature that is being tested allows content creators to more easily collaborate with brands and display and recommend brand products. If users are considering whether to buy a product, they can view and reply to questions raised by people who have purchased the product through the community reply function .

Facebook said the launch of these features can provide users with a better shopping experience and fend off competition from other social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube .
