DPD UK acquires CitySprint, focuses on same-day deliveries

The latest news is that DPD UK recently acquired CitySprint, the UK's largest same-day delivery company, in order to speed up delivery.

The rapid development of e-commerce in Europe not only brings opportunities to sellers, but also ushers in a golden period of development for the logistics industry. Major logistics platforms are constantly expanding their market share.

As one of the world's top five express delivery groups, DPDgrou p's business covers 230 countries, delivers more than 300 million parcels each year , and is said to be the second largest international parcel delivery network in Europe.

As e-commerce continues to develop, delivery time has become an important factor in buyers' purchasing decisions, and people have higher requirements for the speed of delivery. Same-day delivery has also become one of the fastest growing parts of the logistics market, and logistics companies are also working hard to increase delivery speed.

CitySprint is the largest same-day delivery company in the UK, with a distribution network consisting of more than 30 service centers across the UK. With this powerful distribution network, CitySprint can cover more than 88% of the population of mainland Britain within one hour. During the epidemic, CitySprint's business volume has also increased significantly.

DPD UK also sees the future potential of CitySprint. This cooperation can better adapt to market needs and achieve a win-win situation for both parties.

Elaine Kerr, CEO of DPD UK, said: “Even before the pandemic, demand for next-day and same-day delivery was soaring, and as e-commerce continues to grow, this trend will only escalate. DPD UK is already a market leader and once this acquisition is completed, our position in the market will be further strengthened.”

CitySprint also believes: "We are delighted to join DPDgroup and are excited about the new growth opportunities this will bring. The two of us are leaders in our respective fields and can cooperate and complement each other to meet the market's continued strong demand for same-day delivery, which is in line with our growing strategic requirements."

Once the acquisition becomes official, CitySprint will become part of DPDgroup, the parcel delivery network of GeoPos (owned by La Poste, Europe's second largest postal group).

Since Brexit, logistics and other aspects have ushered in a wave of major adjustments. Through this acquisition, DPD UK will also speed up delivery and seize a stronger market position in Europe.
