With four operating sites, Amazon increases investment in the southeastern United States

Alabama is located in the southeastern United States. Amazon plans to open three operation centers in the state to support customer payments across the state. The three operation centers will be located in Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery.

Birmingham Delivery Station : Amazon plans to expand its delivery service in Greater Birmingham . This new station will employ approximately 150 people and could create hundreds of indirect jobs.

Huntsville Distribution Center : In 2022, Amazon will open its third distribution center in the state , designed to receive, store and package heavy or large items, such as household appliances .

Montgomery Receiving Center : In 2022, Amazon will open an Inbound Cross Dock facility that will receive and consolidate items from suppliers and facilitate shipments to fulfillment centers.

The three fulfillment centers in Huntsville, Montgomery and Birmingham will create more than 900 jobs. In addition, Amazon said it plans to add more than 500 full-time positions in Alabama by the end of 2021 and prepare for another 1,800 seasonal jobs.

And, the Huntsville fulfillment center announced in May is now open, covering approximately 1 million square feet , creating hundreds of full-time jobs and allowing Amazon employees to pick, pack and ship larger items for customers, such as bulk paper products, outdoor equipment or rugs.

As Amazon expands its logistics network, the growth of Huntsville and North Alabama is a natural fit for the construction of Amazon's fulfillment center. Amazon's vice president of public policy said the company will expand its investment in Alabama and provide thousands of good jobs through a state-of-the-art operating facility .
