Shopee 11.11 sale sets new record: 11 million items sold in first 5 minutes

On November 11, 2021, China’s leading e-commerce platform Shopee announced the launch of its largest-ever 11.11 promotion: 11 million items were sold in the first 5 minutes, and the platform’s visits in the first 2 hours increased to 5.5 times that of normal days, once again witnessing the great enthusiasm of Southeast Asian consumers for online shopping.

In the first two hours of the promotion, China’s cross-border performance is as follows:

● 3C electronics, beauty and skin care, home living, and fashion accessories are the most popular cross-border categories;

● Domestic brands are popular among consumers:

○ Domestic 3C products are still in high demand. Among them, the well-known mobile phone brand realme launched its new product realme narzo 50i exclusively on Shopee, and sold more than 5,000 units in the Malaysian market within 2 hours;

○ Oriental beauty trends swept across Southeast Asia, with Chinese beauty brands such as Feloure, Pinkflash, and Perfect Diary selling well;

● Various Chinese products trigger a stockpiling trend in Southeast Asia:

○ Staying at home promotes home renovation, with household floor mats, 3D wall stickers, multi-layer storage boxes and other products making the list;

○ As the epidemic becomes normalized, personal protection awareness has increased, and nasal spray bottles, mask lanyards, etc. have become hot sellers;

● Live streaming boosts cross-border sales: In the first two hours, many cross-border best-selling products came from the live streaming room. A cross-border hair accessories seller sold nearly 8,000 items in the Thai market through Shopee Live.

● New cross-border sellers participating in the 11.11 promotion for the first time performed brilliantly, with the number of orders in the first two hours reaching 2.5 times the total number on normal days.
