After two orders were issued, the congestion at US ports has not eased

The congestion at US ports has caused great losses to many cross-border e-commerce sellers. Some sellers reported that the Halloween products shipped in August only arrived at Amazon warehouses a few days before Halloween, and the inventory had to be cleared before the products were even sold.

On October 13th local time , US President Biden delivered a speech and announced that the two largest ports in the United States, the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach, will implement a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week work system to resolve port cargo congestion and allow domestic cargo trucks in the United States to deliver goods at night when traffic is smoother to cope with the tense situation in the consumer supply chain.

Two weeks later, on the morning of October 29th, local time in the United States, the Port Commissions of the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach unanimously approved measures to fine carriers with container backlogs, implementing a "cumulative charging algorithm." If a container is detained for one month, the terminal will incur detention fees of up to $46,500.

However, according to relevant news reports, due to a new regulation introduced this year by the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach in the United States, containers cannot be stacked more than two layers for the overall aesthetics of the port, resulting in empty containers filling the space and new containers having to be temporarily shelved.

However, sellers should not worry too much. Recently, according to a report by CNBC , on October 31, local time, during the G20 Leaders' Summit in Rome, Italy, US President Biden hosted another meeting - the "Global Supply Chain Resilience Summit". It is reported that Biden and the leaders of the other 14 countries and the EU leaders attending the meeting reached a consensus resolution to promote greater international cooperation on the recent supply chain disruptions.

I believe that after more measures are reached and implemented, the port congestion problem can be alleviated as soon as possible, and the goods of all sellers can be delivered as soon as possible, so that they can successfully participate in this year's Black Friday online promotion.
