More than half of American consumers discover new products through social media!

The survey results show that the majority of consumers ( 28%) believe that word of mouth is the preferred method for learning about new brands, products or services, followed by social media (23%), cable TV (12%), online or digital advertising (11%), streaming services (5%), and podcasts (3%).

 

Judging from these data, social media marketing plays an important role in consumers’ minds, second only to word of mouth. According to RRD’s research, 48% of consumers said they have studied social media advertising, and 30% of consumers decided to buy after researching.

 

In the past year ( July 2020 to July 2021), more than half (53%) of consumers discovered a new brand, product or service through social media.

 

The most popular social and video platforms for consumers are Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, followed by Pinterest, Twitter and TikTok. In terms of in-app purchases, 41% of consumers will buy goods on Facebook, followed by Instagram (25%) and Pinterest (11%).

 


Nowadays, the development of the Internet and social media has been integrating and changing the world we live in. Social media marketing is currently the best form of marketing. According to statistics, there are more than 4.5 billion Internet users in the world, 3.8 billion people use social media, and 321 million new social media users were added in 2020. These figures show that social media has a very important impact on people's lives today.

 

Moreover, current social platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, are also developing e-commerce models. According to the forecast of PYMNTS, a well-known payment media , the global social e-commerce market sales will exceed US$36 billion this year and will reach at least US$45 billion next year. Many social e-commerce companies are doing everything they can to attract buyers to consume.

 

In the future, taking advantage of the rapid development of the world's e-commerce market, the tools and related functions that social media can provide to e-commerce sellers will continue to develop and improve, and the work efficiency and consumer participation of online e-commerce will also be greatly improved.
