Buy now! UK toy market sales strong

According to the latest data released by the NPD Group recently , sales trends in the UK toy industry remain strong so far in 2021 .

Consumer demand remains strong despite rising prices

Although the average price of each toy in the UK toy market has increased by 9% from £7.81 in 2019 to £ 8.52 this year , its strong sales level last year has continued until August this year . Compared with 2019, although sales volume increased by only 0.5 % , sales revenue increased by 10 %.

Best Selling Category: Collectibles Series !

The categories that saw the biggest growth in 2021 included building sets ( £13.7m), strategic trading cards (£11.7m) , traditional plush toys ( £9.3m) and non-strategic trading cards (£9m). The return of offline in-store shopping and collectibles lines can be clearly seen in these purchases .

Most British people buy toys online

In the first half of 2021, 60% of total toy sales in the UK were sold through online channels , up 4% from last year. According to Tutt, toy industry experts at the NPD Group , in the first six months of this year , both grocery stores and toy stores took a share of the UK toy market . These grocery stores continue to operate online for entrepreneurs who invest in omnichannel . In this way, the industry continues to grow and provide much-needed entertainment activities for children and parents at home .

Shop early to avoid out-of-stocks , sell-outs and price increases

Retailers and brands are working hard to stock up in preparation for the last quarter of the year , but shortages are still expected in the toy market before Christmas , especially for new products.

It is reported that in 2020, 35% of consumers in the UK started buying holiday gifts in September and October , an increase of 4 % over 2019. And by the end of November, about 30% of consumers had completed Christmas shopping, higher than 18% in 2019.

As the UK is now basically back to normal , and according to a survey by the NPD Group, most British consumers will spend at the same level this year as they did last year when the epidemic affected them, the UK toy market still has a lot of room for growth. Toy sellers in the UK market can also take this opportunity to make a profit during the holiday shopping frenzy.
