Attention! Typhoon landed, Yantian and Shekou ports stopped container delivery services

Attention! Typhoon landed, Yantian and Shekou ports stopped container delivery services

Before one wave of troubles subsides, another wave of troubles arises. Yantian Port just resumed normal operations last month. In July, typhoons came uninvited. The Central Meteorological Observatory issued an orange typhoon warning at 23:00 on July 19: This year's No. 7 typhoon "Chapaka" was strengthened from a strong tropical storm level to a typhoon level at 11 o'clock in the evening on the 19th.

It is expected that "Chapaka" will make landfall in the coastal area from Taishan to Dianbai in Guangdong in the afternoon or night of the 20th (strong tropical storm level or typhoon level, level 11-13, 30-38 meters/second); it is also possible to linger on the sea surface near the western coast of Guangdong, and then gradually turn to the northeast.

Under its influence, there will be strong winds of 7-8 and gusts of 9-10 in the Pearl River Estuary today and tomorrow , accompanied by local heavy rain or torrential rain. The Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration has launched a tropical cyclone level IV emergency response on the 19th.

Yantian Port and Shekou Port issued an emergency typhoon defense notice:

Affected by this year's seventh typhoon "Chapaka", Yantian International Container Terminal stopped picking up empty containers at 16:30 on the 19th, and the three major terminals in Shekou Port (SCT/CCT/MCT) stopped picking up empty containers at 20:00;

As Typhoon Chapaka approaches the Pearl River Estuary and the coast of western Guangdong, winds continue to strengthen. In order to fully prepare for typhoon defense, Yantian International Container Terminal, SCT, CCT, and MCT stopped all container delivery services at 07:00 on July 20.

Freight forwarders and cargo owners who have delivery and pick-up plans in the near future are requested to pay close attention to the weather and port notices and arrange the cargo reasonably to prevent the typhoon from affecting the delivery plan and causing serious damage to the cargo.

Cross-border logistics has had many setbacks this year, from the blockage of the Suez Canal some time ago to the recurrence of the epidemic in some parts of the world. Just when everything had just improved, Yantian Port and Shekou Port were threatened by typhoons. Coupled with the floods in some parts of Europe, the situation facing cross-border logistics has become even more severe.

The peak shipping season in the third quarter is coming, but it faces various challenges. In this regard, the editor reminds shippers and freight forwarders not to take risks, pay attention to global shipping information in real time, and be cautious. After all, a safe ship is a safe bet, and careful operation can ensure stable development.
