Global instant retail platform JOKR launches financing of approximately 84 million euros

According to foreign media reports, Ralf Wenzel, former senior administrator of Softbank and Delivery Hero and founder of foodpanda, launched the global instant retail platform JOKR , planning to bring a new shopping experience to consumers around the world.

JOKR , an instant retail platform, is reportedly backed by some of the world’s most famous and successful investors . The first round of financing was led by HV Capital , with participation from Tiger Global and several top entrepreneurs in the technology and retail industries . It is reported that the initial financing was approximately 84 million euros.

JOKR is a global instant retail platform targeting a global online retail market worth over € 200 billion . Rather than defining its delivery areas by city , the platform focuses on selected communities and regions , operating where customers gather , and providing a fully integrated delivery service.

In addition, the regional instant shopping concept allows local small businesses to expand their influence without having to establish complex logistics and distribution networks themselves, thereby better realizing the democratization of the retail industry.

JOKR currently has operations in three countries, has 100 employees , and plans to expand to other countries at the same time . They said the service is expected to be launched in Europe soon and is currently recruiting staff in Warsaw and Berlin .

The new company also leases warehouses from which couriers deliver goods , including typical supermarket purchases such as food and pharmacy supplies , as well as products from local retailers such as bakery products , according to a spokesperson . In addition , the startup hopes to deliver electronic devices such as headphones or everyday items such as umbrellas.

According to public information, Ralf Wenzel founded the food delivery platform Foodpanda in 2013. Three years later , he sold it to Delivery Hero and served as Chief Strategy Officer , so he is very familiar with the delivery service industry . Jokr's founding team also includes some former Foodpanda members, who also came to Softbank with Wenzel .
