Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart joins hands with Adani Group to build logistics and data centers

India's leading e-commerce marketplace Flipkart has entered into a partnership with industrial conglomerate Adani Group to create logistics and data centers , with the potential to create thousands of new jobs.

As part of the partnership, Adani Logistics Limited , a subsidiary of the group, will build a 534,000 sq ft logistics and distribution centre in its upcoming Mumbai logistics hub , which will be leased out to Flipkart .

"We are committed to meeting the growing e-commerce demand and market penetration in western India by strengthening Flipkart's supply chain infrastructure and enhancing its capabilities to serve customers . Flipkart also said in a statement that it is supporting thousands of sellers and MSMEs in the region to enter the market," the company said.

The center is expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2022 and will have enough capacity to accommodate up to 10 million units of seller inventory. It is also expected to create more than 2,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs .

In addition to this logistics distribution center, another part of the cooperation between the two parties is the data center!

Flipkart will develop its third data center at its AdaniConnecX facility in Chennai as part of the largest private cloud deployment in India to further strengthen its e-commerce business in India.

Flipkart 's statement said the data center is designed to meet the highest standards of reliability, security and sustainability, and will fully leverage Adani Group's capabilities as India's largest solar energy provider to generate and source green energy , enabling Flipkart to meet its growing basic needs in a secure center and keep data locally in India.

For Flipkart , partnering with Adani Group, a comprehensive business group with interests in energy, logistics, resources, real estate, finance, etc., will be a unique combination of logistics, real estate, green energy and data center infrastructure capabilities . These investments will help strengthen Flipkart's presence and capabilities in India to support MSMEs and sellers while accelerating job creation and growth.
