Amazon acquires Indian e-commerce startup Perpule

On March 30, Amazon announced that it had acquired Perpule, an Indian e-commerce startup.

It is reported that physical retail accounts for 95% of India's total retail sales , and the company acquired by Amazon this time, Perpule, mainly helps offline retail stores to carry out Internet-related businesses. Perpule has raised a total of US$6.36 million so far, mainly providing mobile payment devices at sales locations for physical retailers to help consumers realize mobile payments.

According to a report by Indonesian News Network on March 30, e-commerce in Indonesia is developing rapidly. From 2017 to 2020, the transaction volume increased from 42.2 trillion rupiah to 266.3 trillion rupiah. In just four years, the transaction volume increased sixfold.

Ozon's gross merchandise sales in 2020 reached 197.4 billion rubles, up 144% from 2019. The online retailer's revenue grew 74% annually to 104.4 billion rubles. Ozon 's net losses increased by 15% to 22.3 billion rubles due to logistics investments.

“Ozon had the opportunity to become profitable as early as 2020, but we decided to continue investing in logistics infrastructure , IT and new business initiatives , ” said Ozon Chief Financial Officer Igor Gerasimov .

Walmart US opens to Chinese sellers  

Walmart recently held a strategic conference on the US site in Shenzhen, officially opening the investment channel to Chinese sellers. It is worth mentioning that more than 100 Chinese sellers have successfully entered Walmart's US site.

Walmart has opened its third-party marketplace to foreign sellers this month, and sellers no longer need a U.S. address or sales tax certificate. Prior to the U.S. site, Walmart only had an official recruitment service for Chinese cross-border sellers on its Canadian site.

Some time ago, the Saudi Ministry of Commerce monitored and seized a group of independent websites from China, which could simultaneously link to 184 websites with different names.

The Ministry of Commerce affirmed that it will continue to coordinate with the competent consumer protection authorities to track and block these links because they use social media platforms to sell counterfeit and substandard products to the Saudi market, providing misleading pictures, false after-sales services, and extremely low-quality products.
