eBay Korea's Gmarket app has a major update

Although eBay Korea is facing the fate of being acquired in the near future, it is clear that eBay Korea has not relaxed its management of its three e-commerce platforms.

 


eBay Korea said on Tuesday that Gmarket's mobile app has undergone a complete overhaul to make it more intuitive and user-friendly while matching Gmarket's new brand image.


The company stressed that the change is not only in appearance, but also in the way the app operates, providing customers with a more convenient shopping experience.

 

Gmarket has barely changed its user interface design since its launch in 1999. However, many Korean users have reported that the app does not meet their needs because it lacks the accuracy of a search engine and product information is presented in a seller-centric way. Consumers also pointed out that Gmarket's entire application lacks brand identity.

 

Gmarket has collected these questions and has now updated the app to eliminate the inconveniences these consumers experience, making it more intuitive and simple to use.

 

The app's icon has been updated with a blue and green gradient to reflect Gmarket's new brand identity, which the company defines as "connection." The company explained that the app's icon attempts to embody the core values ​​of the service, described by four keywords: center, connection, variety, and forward.

 


The app's homepage has been redesigned to put the search engine at the center, with content tailored to each user popping up first. The app's menu icon has also been made into a simple shape, making it easier for users to find what they're looking for.

 

In addition, Gmarket said it has developed a comprehensive design system called "GDS" to unify the design factors used by the company's in-house designers and app developers.

 

eBay Korea is now facing a situation where multiple companies are competing for acquisition. As the most important e-commerce platform under eBay Korea, the update and optimization of Gmarket during this critical period will undoubtedly further promote the smooth sale of eBay Korea.
