Nearly 43,000 tables recalled, Costco furniture in Canada poses hidden dangers

At present, countries have stepped up their control over product quality. Once a product with a safety problem is found, it will either be removed from the shelves or recalled, and may even face the risk of fines.

43,000 tables recalled

Recently, Costco Canada issued a recall notice, stating that its Lifetime 6ft seminar table (Costco number 574337) may be dangerous, and advised buyers to stop using the table and choose to contact the manufacturer for repairs or go to Costco for a full refund.

It is reported that the danger of this table mainly lies in the support arm connecting the table and the table legs. The support arm may be somewhat loose. Once loose, the table is likely to collapse.

As of March 10, 2021, no reports of injuries have been received. However, some consumers have reported that the support arms of 11 tables they purchased were loose and not properly locked in place. Therefore, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that it requires Costco to recall the tables that have been sold, and 43,000 tables have been recalled so far.

Two brands of hand sanitizer recalled

Health Canada is also recalling two brands of hand sanitizer because they may pose a health risk. The two brands are Biogel and Keep Calm – Assainisseur à base d'éthanol, and 70 per cent of their products have been recalled.

The investigation data showed that this was mainly due to the presence of methanol in Biogel manufactured by Groupe Savon Olympic Inc. and ethyl acetate in Keep Calm manufactured by Station-22, ingredients that Health Canada said were unacceptable.

In addition, this recall mainly involves four batches with expiration dates of April 2022 and May 2022. Health Canada said it recommends consumers stop using the recalled products and return them to pharmacies for proper disposal.
