A 54% increase! German e-commerce company BBG's GMV exceeded US$500 million in 2020

BBG , which acquires e-commerce brands and Amazon retail brands, reportedly achieved strong growth in 2020. In 2020, the group's sales increased by 54% to $400 million, equivalent to 335 million euros, with profits of around 50 million.

Berlin Brands Group (Berlin Brands Group or BBG) is a global e-commerce company that currently sells more than 3,000 products under 14 own brands in 28 countries and more than 100 channels around the world. Berlin Brands Group is one of the few profitable companies since its inception and mainly relies on its own cash flow to grow.

The brand group currently sells more than 3,000 products through 14 e-commerce brands. The largest brand in its portfolio is Klarstein, a kitchen appliance brand that accounts for more than 50% of the group's sales. It is followed by auna (home appliances and music equipment), Capital Sports (home fitness) and blumfeldt (garden decoration products).

BBG has been buying e-commerce brands that fit into its business portfolio since the end of December 2020. Previously, Berlin Brands Group announced plans to invest 250 million euros (about 302 million US dollars at today's exchange rate) to acquire smaller companies and integrate them into its own operations, and said that there are still many options in Europe and BBG will use about 100 channels to sell its products.

To date, the company says it has sold more than 10 million products and is profitable, with BBG selling 3.4 million items last year, up 30% from 2.6 million the previous year. In 2020, the company had about 2.8 million buyers worldwide, and its average online shopping volume increased by 18% compared to 2019. GMV in 2020 was about 430 million euros ($520 million).

The company said it plans to continue its international expansion in 2021. It aims to achieve long-term development through international expansion and expanding the brand's product range, as well as implementing more acquisition plans. But in fact, it still faces very difficult challenges, including how to acquire high-quality brands. After all, in the huge e-commerce market, in addition to those who do business seriously, there are also many speculators. It is not easy to screen out high-quality and potential small brands.
