Croatian e-commerce market to reach 709 million euros, with media and consumer electronics being the most popular


Croatia is a Southeast European country with a population of about 4.2 million . E-commerce in Croatia has developed rapidly in recent years.

 

A 2020 study by a Croatian e-commerce website showed that 61% of Internet users have shopped online at least once , while 36% make online purchases once a month . Online shopping has become the first choice for Croatian people.

 

Croatia hosts several e-commerce events every year to promote online shopping among local residents. Croatia has a very convenient e-commerce event calendar where you can find all the major online retail events in Europe.

 

According to Statista , Croatia’s e-commerce market is expected to reach 709 million euros by 2021. By 2025, e-commerce in the country will grow at an annual rate of 7.42%.

 

The Croatian E-Commerce Association said that Croatia's online retail sales in 2020 were 464 million euros , growing year by year.

  

Among the many product categories , media and consumer electronics are the most popular among Croatians , with a market value of approximately 173 million euros in 2020. Apart from these, other popular categories in Croatia are clothing , shoes , fashion accessories and food.

 

But according to another data source , EcommerceDB , fashion is the largest segment as it accounts for 42% of the country's e-commerce revenue . It is followed by electronics and media (24%), food and personal care (13%), toys, hobbies and DIY (12%), and furniture and appliances (9%).

 

eKupi is the largest e-commerce company in Croatia . This online department store sells a wide range of consumer electronics , automotive equipment , toys, perfumes , etc. Another popular local online store is Links.hr, which mainly sells media and consumer electronics.

 

When paying for online orders, 21% of Croatians use credit cards, while 20 % use PayPal and similar services. WSpay (38%) , T-Com (32%) and CorVus (22%) are the most popular payment gateways in the country.
