110,000 products recalled, Jimco lamp furniture may pose an electric shock hazard

Furniture products have been very popular recently, and product safety issues are also emerging one after another. Recently, Jimco Lamp announced the recall of 99,000 tables sold in the United States and 11,000 tables sold in Canada because the charging sockets and USB ports involved in the device may cause electric shock hazards.

Furniture products may pose a risk of electric shock

Although there have been no reports of any accidents or injuries, both the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada say that charging sockets or USB ports installed on tables may cause electrical problems and cause reverse polarity, which may cause electric shock to users.

The tables are sold at retailers such as HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls in North America, as well as on Amazon. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately stop using the charging sockets and USB ports and contact Jimco Lamp for a full refund or free replacement table.

The recall involves J Hunt Home side accent tables with built-in outlets for AC/DC and USB charging sockets. According to the recall warning, the affected products come in three styles, with one or two drawers and in a variety of colors , and are made of medium-density fiberboard , solid wood , veneer and other materials .

In addition, these products all have a hang tag that says "J Hunt Home" or "J Hunt & Co" and a white adhesive label on the back of the product with an item number and a date code between April 2019 and November 2020 , with the date code showing a two-digit month .

The furniture industry is still hot

Jimco Lamp Company was founded in 1963 in Arkansas , USA, and occupies a large market share in the retail lighting industry. Currently, it is committed to the portable lighting market in the United States and Canada , mainly selling high-end lighting and portable lighting products, furniture and decorative accessories.

As the overseas epidemic has not been brought under control, the consumption behavior of foreign consumers has changed, and staying at home for a long time has led to an increase in home consumption products. Previously, the General Administration of Customs of China released export data on home products, showing that the export value of furniture and its accessories in 2020 was 403.9 billion , an increase of about 12.2% over 2019.

In fact, the furniture industry was very popular in 2020 and the heat remains unabated in 2021. Sellers need to pay attention to putting product quality and safety issues first in order to usher in another sales peak.
