The handling fee is as low as 2.9%! WeMef Korea implements a fixed fee system

WeMef announced on the 21st that it will implement a flat fee system that will charge 2.9% for all categories instead of the differential fee previously applied to each product .

“This includes PG (payment agent) fees, which are the lowest in the industry even compared to platform operators such as Naver and Kakao,” WeMef explained.

According to the Fair Trade Commission's survey results on the distribution industry released in December last year, the average commission rate that online shopping malls such as Coupang , SSG.com , WeMef , Timon , GS Shop and Lotte I-Mall receive from merchants is 13.6% (TV shopping 33.9%, department stores 26.3%, large supermarkets 20.0%, etc.), and Naver and Kakao's fees are about 5%.

By introducing a gateway-based minimum fee, WeMef changes the existing open market operators' differentiated fees per product .

Currently, open market operators charge different commissions based on the category of goods. According to the Federal Trade Commission ( FTC), online shopping malls charge 12.6% for fresh food, 15.1% for women's casual wear, 15.4% for men's casual wear, 11.9% for home appliances , 11.6% for books , and 12.8% for digital products .

WeMef 's strategy is to replace the differentiated fee system of open markets that applies different categories according to categories with a fixed fee applied by Naver , Kakao, etc., to distinguish itself from other open markets .

WeMef plans to run a minimum 2.9% commission system for this portal system, and said that this is not a temporary promotion, but a commission system unique to WeMef.

From a long-term perspective, it is expected to reduce the cost burden on partners . WeMef hopes to increase the number of stores and provide customers with a wider variety of products by changing the charging system .

A WeMef official said: “ We plan to further strengthen the role of the platform itself in the future so that we can provide a variety of products to our customers and grow with more partners.
