The National Bank of Slovakia The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) is the independent central bank of the Slovak Republic, which constitutes the euro area central bank system within the European System of Central Banks.

About the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS)

The National Bank of Slovakia joined the Eurosystem on January 1, 2009. Its main objective is to maintain price stability in the euro area. In cooperation with the European Central Bank and other central banks of the euro area countries, it contributes most importantly to creating a favourable economic environment and achieving full employment.

Since the introduction of the euro, i.e. from 1 January 2009, Slovakia has been part of the Eurosystem, which constitutes the central banking system of the euro area within the European System of Central Banks.

In the area of ​​financial markets, the National Statistical Office contributes to the stability of the entire financial system and to safe and sound financial market functioning in order to maintain the credibility of financial markets, customer protection and compliance with competition rules. At the same time, the National Statistical Office conducts financial market supervision, i.e. supervision of banks, foreign bank branches, investment companies, investment service intermediaries, stock exchanges, management companies, mutual funds and collective investment undertakings, reinsurance undertakings, pension fund management companies, pension funds, supplementary pension fund management companies and other supervised entities on the Slovak financial market.
