Amazon employee suffers from PTSD due to work stress and says he has no choice but to quit

Amazon made headlines earlier this year when it decided to lay off an additional 9,000 employees, after laying off 18,000 employees last year .

Thousands of Amazon employees have shared their experiences on LinkedIn and joined the job search effort .

According to Business Insider, a former Amazon employee who worked in human resources at Amazon shared his experience of leaving the company after suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to work pressure.

The employee, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that they were placed on a performance improvement plan (PIP) by the company.

The former Amazon employee said he felt compelled to comply with the program 's requirements. However, he ultimately decided to resign, citing the stress and intimidation the job had caused him.

After submitting his resignation letter to his manager , the former Amazon employee claimed their manager reacted strongly and expressed anger and disbelief. The former employee stressed that his decision to leave was a response to perceived threats, not a lack of respect.

In November, another Amazon employee revealed that he chose to leave the company rather than relocate to keep his job . In an article, the man described his experience.

Earlier, a report by MoneyControl revealed that Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos launched a program in 2014 where he offered up to $5,000. The option, called "Pay to Quit," was offered to employees with the goal of retaining only those who were motivated to stay with the company.

In a letter to shareholders, Bezos wrote: "Once a year, we will pay employees to quit." The letter also said, "The offer is $2,000 the first year. Then it will increase by $1,000 each year until it reaches $5,000. However, the company's practice is actually to hope that employees will stay.

Speaking about why he made such an offer to employees, the Amazon co-founder said the idea was to encourage people to think about what they really want right now. "It's not healthy for employees or the company in the long run for them to be somewhere they don't want to be .
