Another product has been recalled! It was sold on Amazon and other platforms

This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) warned that it has recalled 34 types of eye drops sold by several well-known brands, including Amazon, Walmart, CVS, Target and Rite Aid .

The FDA said 27 of the eye drops were recalled because they could cause infection or blindness, while the remaining seven were not approved by the FDA. No cases have been reported related to these products, according to the FDA.

Recently , the FDA said that the manufacturing company Kilitch Healthcare has voluntarily recalled 27 eye drop products. Media previously reported that the FDA had warned consumers not to use, buy or sell 26 drugs sold at Target, CVS, Walmart and Rite Aid because they could cause eye infections or even blindness.

Initially, the FDA did not name the manufacturer, but U.S. health officials said some workers at the Indian factory fabricated test results, according to an inspection report seen by Bloomberg.

Kilitch Healthcare did not respond to requests for comment .

The FDA recently added Equate Hydration PF eye drops sold by Walmart in stores and online to its list of eye drops that consumers should avoid, bringing the total number of recalled eye drops to 27.

A Walmart spokesperson said : We have removed this product from our stores and implemented a sales ban on our registries , and recommend that anyone who has purchased this product stop using it immediately .

In a warning letter sent to Amazon CEO Jassy a few days ago , the FDA stated that seven eye drops sold on the company's website were classified as "new drugs" and had not been approved by the agency as "generally recognized as safe and effective."

The letter said marketing new drugs without prior agency approval constituted a violation of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.

The eye drops are sold on Amazon as a treatment for pink eye, eye floaters, cataracts and dry eyes .

An Amazon spokesperson responded : We require that all products available in our store comply with applicable laws and regulations . The problematic products have been investigated and are being removed from the shelves.
