Due to repeated suspension of flights, shipping prices have risen again!

Recently, there has been a large-scale port skipping and repeated suspension of flights on the US-Europe route. The number of suspensions on the US West Coast route alone has reached 122 times, and 23 on the US East Coast. Buyers have also deeply felt the severity of this year's supply chain problems. Some buyers said that their goods this year may have to be delivered next year!

Recently, the increase in shipping costs in Southeast Asia has been the most obvious. Relevant data shows that the Shanghai Shipping Exchange Southeast Asia Freight Index alone has risen by about 20% at the beginning of this month . A freight forwarder said that the current Southeast Asian freight rate of US$2,000-3,000 is 5 to 10 times that of the same period before the epidemic, and the increase is becoming more and more obvious.

The prices on the US-Europe routes have risen again recently. A survey shows that since December, the prices on the US West Coast routes to ports such as Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Oakland have exceeded US$12,000 .

Mediterranean Shipping Company recently announced that it will implement new FAK rate increases for cargo shipped to the United States and the Caribbean from January 1, 2022. In addition to increasing FAK rates for 20-foot and 40-foot HCs, the company will also increase FAK rates for 20 , 30 , 40 , 50, and high-cubic-meter dry containers .

Industry insiders said that the increase in freight rates is closely related to the unresolved problem of port congestion, which has further led to overall poor logistics operations and container shortages. This year, the container shipping industry is expected to make profits of over 100 million yuan.

In addition, although the US ports have implemented a 24-hour overtime mode and charged detention fees, and relevant leaders have also stated that their congestion has dropped by 40%, it has not been effectively alleviated. In addition, the repeated outbreaks of the epidemic have caused the suspension of multiple routes and delayed shipping schedules, exacerbating the problem of supply shortages.

It is understood that the freight rate increase will continue until next year. Many shipping companies have stated that the European route will increase by more than 2 times in 2022, and the shipping space is still in a very tight state. Therefore, sellers should be mentally prepared and make plans for the next step in advance.
