68% of Americans are pet owners? See which pet products are popular

The epidemic has brought pet products into fashion, and many people hope that pets can provide them with companionship when they are at home. According to the US Consumer Trend Survey Report released by Jungle Scout, 18% of Americans adopted a new pet during the epidemic.

Of the 1,066 U.S. consumers surveyed , 786 said they bought pet products such as cat food and dog toys this year. From this perspective, about 68% of Americans are "poop owners."

Pet owners’ spending on pet categories has also remained steady this year: the vast majority ( 91%) of pet owners said their spending on pet products remained the same or more in the second quarter compared to the first quarter.

When buying pet supplies, pet owners tend to be loyal to certain brands. Their brand loyalty to pet supplies is even higher than their personal care products and clothing brands. When asked whether they look for specific brands when buying pet supplies, 42% said "always" and another 46% said "sometimes". Therefore, pet sellers have a greater chance of welcoming repeat customers.

More than one in five pet owners in the U.S. ( 23%) buy pet supplies on Amazon, while 22% choose to buy pet supplies on Walmart.

When Jungle Scout asked pet owners why they preferred to shop online, they said that buying online offered more choices and they could buy pet food at discounted prices.

"I don't want to carry a 30-pound bag of dog food home from the store unless I can get it right to my door," said one pet owner.

Most pet owners say they will leave home for work, business trips, travel, and visiting relatives and friends after the pandemic is lifted. Many are looking for products that can help their pets spend their alone time. These include anti-anxiety supplements, automatic food dispensers, and educational toys that can entertain their pets when they are away.

This electric clownfish that can interact with cats is becoming a best-selling product on Amazon, with monthly sales reaching tens of thousands.

After returning to work, pet owners have started to buy automatic feeders to ensure that their pets can eat on time. For example, this smart feeder can remotely monitor pets and control feeding via mobile phones. The monthly sales volume on Amazon has exceeded 10,000 units.

Many people also take their pets with them when traveling, so products such as pet car seats and cat backpacks are in high demand, with some products selling in the thousands each month.

However, most of the hot-selling products are also "high-incidence areas" of infringement problems, so sellers should also pay attention to checking relevant patents when selecting products.
