Pinterest launches new feature, language barriers are no longer a problem

Pinterest recently launched a new feature - multi-source support for product catalogs. With the help of this feature, Shopify merchants and any retailers with Pinterest business accounts can add up to 20 product sources to their accounts. Each source will display specific local data, such as currency, language, etc., so that retailers can communicate more easily with merchants in various countries and reduce the trouble of language barriers.

Due to the epidemic last year, online shopping became mainstream, and online shopping orders on many social media platforms saw a significant increase. The number of users consuming on the Pinterest platform increased by more than 200%, and the number of monthly active users reached about 500 million.

Not only that, Pinterest has also begun to expand rapidly in the international market. In 2020, the platform's active users outside the United States increased by 46% year-on-year. It is currently the second most used social platform in the Brazilian market, and will expand to more countries in the future .

The growing size of Pinterest's user base will also create more revenue opportunities for it. Accordingly, the platform is also gradually adding more promotional tools. For example, it recently expanded the availability of the AR "Tyr-On" advertising tool and provided skin color search qualifiers in more regions.

Pinterest is a social networking site based on visual sharing. It uses image search technology to form a model that combines visual search and shopping. Although it is relatively niche, it is also one of the top ten most popular social networking sites in the world. Most users on the platform will not directly enter the brand name in the search, and popular searches are mostly composed of two or three words. Merchants have the same opportunity to be discovered by consumers. Especially for small and medium-sized merchants, it is a platform with great potential.

Social e-commerce has continued to gain momentum in recent years. In addition to the more commonly used popular platforms such as FB and INS, the growth of Pinterest users has also provided new opportunities for brands seeking to enter new markets. The platform is also open to new products, making it an emerging market worthy of exploration and discovery by small and medium-sized enterprises.
