There is a risk! Two products on Temu are to be recalled

As Temu gains a foothold abroad, the quality of products on the platform has increasingly attracted the attention of regulators.

Recently, the UK Department of Commerce ( GOV) announced the recall of two products on the Temu platform. One is a high-pressure shower head and the other is an electric heater.

1. High-pressure shower nozzle

The first to be recalled were high-pressure shower heads.

The recall was in mid-last month, and the GOV called it a "high-pressure shower head with a stop button". The listing title of this product on Temu is "1pc high pressure water saving shower head and 1 pc high pressure shower head". The recall description also mentioned that the product is a black detachable high-pressure shower head attachment.

According to the recall notice, this product poses a serious risk of scalding. Due to the presence of a stop button, the product is considered dangerous to use with an electric shower. When the "stop" button is pressed and released, the shower head will discharge a burst of very hot water, which may scald the user. Therefore, the product does not comply with the requirements of the UK General Product Safety Regulation 2005.

The GOV said that the product has been recalled from users and has been withdrawn from the market, and consumers who have already purchased the product are advised to stop using it and contact Temu for a refund. However, the product has not yet been recalled in the US market.

2. Electric heater

Half a month later, another electric heater was also recalled. This product is called a portable electric heater, with black and white colors and a brass handle.

It is reported that the reason for the recall is that the product poses a serious risk of electric shock. Because the product's external structure is of poor quality, there is leakage at the air outlet under normal use. In addition, the instruction manual that comes with the product does not include the necessary warnings and markings.

In addition, the product voltage on the product packaging is 220v, not the UK standard voltage, so it is not suitable for connection to the UK circuit. Based on the above problems, this product violates the UK Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The product has been recalled from users and Temu has contacted affected users to make remedial arrangements. The product listing has also been removed from the platform.

According to the recall notice, the origin of both products is China. Here again, as a seller, you must be cautious in selecting products, and take into account the differences between China and other countries, such as the voltage mentioned in the recall instructions for electric heaters, so as not to cause yourself unnecessary trouble.
