More than 230,000 scooters were recalled and were sold at Walmart and Amazon!

On Wednesday, American outdoor skateboard brand Razor announced that it would recall 237,300 Hovertrax 2.0 self-balancing scooters/ hoverboards with GLW battery packs .

Recalled Balance Scooters /Hoverboards

According to reports, the hoverboards come in black, black monochrome, blue, green, red, red monochrome, white, rose gold, camouflage, ocean blue, purple, and three multi-color patterns called Spectrum, Galaxy, and Carbon.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said these self-balancing skateboards /hoverboards are powered by removable lithium-ion battery packs, which can overheat and cause a fire or explosion. The serial numbers of these battery packs begin with GLW and are printed on a white sticker on the top of the battery pack. So far, the CPSC has received 20 reports of battery packs overheating, but no injuries have been reported so far .

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled hoverboards were manufactured between September 2016 and August 2017. In addition, according to the recall information, the products were manufactured in China.

They were sold at Walmart, Target, Toys "R" Us and other stores nationwide. They were also sold at Walmart , Amazon and other websites for about $460 between September 2016 and 2018, the CPSC said .

The CPSC says any consumer who uses a Hovertrax 2.0 self-balancing scooter/hoverboard should immediately contact Razor to have the GLW battery pack shipped back, prepaid , and receive a free replacement battery pack .

Although the products recalled this time are American brands, it also serves as a reminder to domestic sellers that even products sold many years ago may be recalled. Sellers must pay more attention when designing and manufacturing, ensure quality, and avoid losses.
